Are you a busy mom? I know I am! The one thing I seem to find in common among all the wonderful moms I know is that we always seem to put ourselves last.  Why is that? Deep inside I feel like most of us just tend to put the needs of our families first and our needs after theirs. This seems like the right thing to do. We are the moms and we want to take care of our families first. I’ll tell you a little story about myself that changed my mind.

I have been dealing with 2 herniated discs in my back for many years. I kind of kept it under control by going to my chiropractor occasionally and telling myself that I was doing enough stretching at home on my own. We all tell ourselves that, don’t we? Sure, I’m exercising, taking my vitamins, drinking my water, etc., but am I REALLY doing enough?  Unfortunately, I think not. So, a little over 2 years ago, my body finally said “that’s enough”. Not a good thing for me. My back decided that it just wasn’t going to keep up with me anymore. I was down for the count for a couple of months. I would think I was getting better, and then I would backslide again. Sure enough, a few more months down the road, I was flat on my back for over a week. I couldn’t get off the couch at all. That was really a time for some deep personal reflections. Something had to change. I knew I did not want back surgery, so I started working with my doctors to find ways to get mobile again.

  First, I had to really take time for myself. I now plan out time for things that have to be a priority in my life so that I can be a better mom and wife for my family. I did not like it at all when I was missing a lot of my boys’ events. I was the mom that was always at everything. I truly believe that nature provides us with things to take care of ourselves. Now, I was doing a lot of research to find out what would work for me. I have tried Acupuncture, water therapy, chiropractic care, Pilates, and nutrition. I make them a priority so that I can be the best that I can be. I am very luck to have found doctors that work with me to heal my body the way I want to.

Luckily, It Works had also come into my life about a year before this happened. This has been a saving grace for me. My doctors have really been impressed with the quality of the supplements and encourage me to take them to give my body the nutrition it needs to heal. I really notice a big difference in my health overall. Our bodies can process organic, nonGMO, whole food nutrients so much easier so we can get all the benefits we need.

The 2nd thing that I am thankful for is  having this flexible business has really kept me going. Being out of work is not fun. My “real job” is as a flight attendant, and it is very physical so I haven’t been able to go back to work in a while. I am working up to it though, and I do plan on getting back to flying. It is something that I really enjoy! The second thing I enjoy is helping others, and my business with It Works gives me that opportunity, especially now. I think I would go crazy if I didn’t have this in my life. We all need to feel needed and that we are a vital part of our families. This business is so flexible, that I was able to still work my business from my couch! Plus, the residual income has been a blessing for my family.

So, the moral of this blog is to make sure you find the time to take care of yourself before something like this happens to you. I wish I had taken more time earlier on for myself, then I might have had such a bad injury. It doesn’t have to take a lot of time, and in the long run, you will be healthier and feel better about yourself so you can take care of those you love better too!
